Kenya Parliamentary and Civic By – Elections 11th June 2008

The Electoral Commission Of Kenya, has announced the following information to all registered political parties in Kenya. By – Elections for Kilgoris, Wajir North, Emuhaya, Embakasi and Ainamoi constituencies together with 53 Civic Wards will held on Wednesday 11th June 2008.

Party Nominations – The party nominations must be carried out as provided by sections 34 (d) and 123 (1) of the Constitution and section 17 (1) of the National Assembly and Presidential Elections Act.

Date For Formal Nomination – Monday 26th May 2008 and Tuesday 27th May 2008. Nomination papers for the by – elections may be delivered to the returning officer at his/her office between the hours of 8.00 am and 1.00 pm and between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm of the days aforementioned.

Registered political parties must however complete the nomination for their parliamentary and civic candidates by 24th May 2008. The nomination forms for parliamentary and civic candidates are available at the Returning officers’ office.

75 seats in Georgia’s national assembly (Sakartvelos Parliament) are to be contested in Georgia’sParliamentary Elections on Wednesday 21st May 2008.

  • “75 members are elected by proportional representation to serve a 5-year term and 75 members are elected by majority vote in single-member constituencies to serve a 5-year term***.
