Samuel W Ndindiri ‘Information Technology Pioneer’ and Clerk of National Assembly of Kenya Dies

Tributes to the Clerk of the National Assembly of Kenya is reported in Peter Opiyo’s article – The Standard 11th April 2008 ‘Leaders Pay Tribute To Ndindiri.’ who died after illness attributed to cancer on 3RD April 2008.
‘Speakers at Nairobi Pentecostal Church noted that the late Clerk to the National Assembly, Samuel Ndindiri, held the nation together at a time of unprecedented post-election upheaval‘. The late Samuel Ndindiri was born in 1949 and hailed from Thuita Komothai, Githunguri in Kiambu District, Kenya. SW Ndindiri was instrumental in getting the National Assembly to embrace information technology and launched the Kenya Parliament website www.bunge.go.ke on 15th December 2006.

An article by Joseph Murimi ‘Ndindiri laid to rest’ The Standard 12th April 2008 describes SW Ndindiri’s funeral in Kiambu, which was attended by ‘ODM leader Mr Raila Odinga and Vice-President Mr Kalonzo Musyoka, who represented President Kibaki’ the article quotes Prime Minister designate Raila Odinga – ‘The role the former Clerk performed during the election of Marende (The Present Speaker of Kenya’s 9th Parliament) as Speaker was described as exceptional. Raila said by not taking sides, he saved the country from going up in flames.’ End
