Hon JJ Nyagah Kenya Politician and Pioneer Educationalist Dies Age 87

Kenya mourned the death of one it’s of the pre – independence politician and one of its first post independence parliamentarians and cabinet ministers – Hon JJ Nyagah. Hon Nyagah died at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya on Thursday 10th April 2008.

The death of the late Hon JJ Nyagah is reported in Peter Thatiah’s article‘JJ Nyagah: A rare politician who knew when to quit’ The Standard 11th April 2008. The article reveals that Hon JJ Nyagah first stood for an electoral office in the 1950s (Kenya was still a British Colony), took part in the 1060s pre – independence talks at Lancaster House in London and has two sons sitting in opposite sides in Kenya’s Ninth Parliament. He was a distinguished educationalist and Founder Principal of Kangaru School in Kenya. Interesting fact ‘Among his students at Kangaru were Dr David Gitari, a former Anglican archbishop, politician Kenneth Matiba (a frequent presidential candidate) and former Central Bank Governor, Phillip Ndegwa’.
