Kenya Vice – President & Ministers Lose Seats

Provisional result at 09.00GMT 10% of votes counted. Kenya Vice- President and Cabinet Ministers lose seat. Former President Moi’s two sons also lose seats.

PRESIDENTIAL PROVISIONAL RESULTS AS AT 09.00 HRS GMT [10% OUT OF 14.2 MILLION VOTES COUNTED]:-

RAILA ODINGA-1,696,230 (11.87%)
MWAI KIBAKI -1,127,669 (7.89%)
KALONZO MUSYOKA-89,050(0.62%)

Raila is leading Kibaki by only 568,561 votes.

PARLIAMENTARY PROVISIONAL RESULTS:-

The biggest shock so far has been the defeat of Vice-President Moody Awori(PNU) by ODM’s Paul Otwoma. Others Ministers who have lost are Local Govt Minister Musakari Kombo who was defeated by ODM’s Alfred Sambu, Information Minister Mutahi Kagwe who was defeated by Safina’s Kabondo wa Kabondo.

Others who lost are Lands Minster Kivutha Kibwana, Environment Minister Daudi Mwiraria, Agriculture Minister Kirurto Kirwa, Roads Minister Simion Nyachae, Public Service Minister Moses Akaranga, Foreign Affairs Minister Rafael Tuju, Labour Minister Newton Kulundu, Trade Minister Mukisa Kituyi and Health Minister Paul Sang who served for only 3 months. Also losing was Regional Development Minister Abdi Mohamed.

Several Assistant Ministers have also lost their seats including vocal Assisant Minister for Tourism Kalembe Ndile.

Former powerful Minister in Moi Government, Nicholas Biwott lost his seat which he held since 1974. Two of Former President Moi’s sons have lost; Gideon Moi in Baringo Central and Kipruto Moi in Rongai.

It appears that ODM has won most seats so far announced in Nyanza, Western and Rift Valley.
