Raila Odinga overcame one of the possible hurdle to become the 4th President of Kenya by winning his Langata constituency seat. One strange aspect of Kenyan politics is that Raila Odinga was faced with the distinct possibility of loosing his Langata seat. This possibility was due to a number of factors, which will be explained in our post election reports. If he had lost his constituency seat, he would not have met one of the criteria in being President of Kenya and there would have been a run-off 21 days after the election if current President  Mwai Kibaki obtained the second highest amount of votes and met all the other criteria.
