| The 1992 Constitution of Kenya provides that the ECK’s functions in the following words:-
Section “42A The Electoral Commission shall be responsible for:-
• Dividing Kenya into such number of constituencies with such boundaries and names as it may be determined
• Reviewing the numbers, boundaries and names of these constituencies at intervals of between eight and 10 years with power to alter the number, the boundaries or the names if it considers that desirable;
• Directing and supervising Presidential, National Assembly and Local Government elections;
• Registering voters, maintenance and revision of voters' registers;
• Promoting free and fair elections
• Promoting Voter Education throughout Kenya;
• Performing such other functions as may be prescribed by law.
