Uhuru to Be Inaugurated as President of Kenya 28 November 2017, as Raila Refuses Parallel Swearing in Ceremony,

Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn for a second term in at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya. President Uhuru won the disputed October 26 presidential election run-off against opposition leader Raila Odinga who boycotted the election.

Uhuru’s confidence will be boosted with confirmation that 43 countries will send delegations, These includes: President Magalufi (Tanzania), Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) Mohammed Abdullahi Mohamed (Somalia). To reinforce Kenya’s special relationship with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will attend. Britain will be represented by Rory Stewart.

The inauguration ceremony’s oath of office will be led by Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi with Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya Justice David Maraga.
Reports in the media in Kenya suggest that the ceremony will cost Ksh 300,000 approximately ( £2.2 million pound sterling or US$2.9 million).

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga will not be sworn in at a pararell ceremony (an idea put forward by some of the hawks in Nasa). Odinga has reflected that this would be seen as illegal and would damage, his and Nasa’s image at home and abroad, whilst throwing Kenya into a constitutional crisis. Could Israel Prime Minister’s presence be used to reach out to Raila (who paid a visit to Israel in May 2017)? Golda Meir (then Israel’s Foreign Minister) established strong links with Kenya and Kenya’s first President Jomo Kenyatta in the early sixties.

We hope the day is peaceful despite the US and UK travel warnings. #StaySafe
