Rwanda Elections – Kagame Captures The Votes
Submitted by William Ang'awa Tuesday, 10 August 2010
Rwandan President Paul Kagame is on course to win the Rwandese Presidential Elections.
Paul Kagame is on the verge of a landslide victory in Rwanda’s presidential election, according to partial results, extending his 16 years of effective rule by another seven years.
The results come amid warnings, however, that increasingly heavy-handed treatment of opponents is tarnishing his strong economic record.
Mr Kagame celebrated with his supporters into the early hours following Monday’s polls but his emphatic victory will heighten the unease in some quarters over his autocratic tendencies.
